The Japanese composite reflex bow found its perfection in the 15th century.

Subsequent developments included a differentiation of the heartwood and the use of new wood species.

In the Chikurin ha we mainly use bows made of natural materials (bamboo and wood). Due to its filigree construction the bow reacts sensitively to handling. By a firm grip or large climatic changes it changes its form and can be damaged. The yumi becomes a teacher!
